Description

This course is for students who have experience. building furniture objects in previous classes and who have a foundation of construction techniques. The class will emphasize developing individual design and the integration of conceptual thinking as regards furniture as both art and utilitarian objects. The course will expand the material vocabulary and knowledge. Special focus will be on joinery and connections for disparate materials as well the development of traditional wood joints. The creation of models and joinery mock ups will be an essential part of the learning process. Students will be required to complete two–three well designed and completely finished furniture objects by the end of the term.
