The LSA/Residential College Program in Environmental Studies is changing! As of summer, 2002, the Environmental Studies Program is replaced by the Program in the Environment, a collaborative program between the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and the School of Natural Resources & Environment. Professor John Knott is the interim director of the new program. The new program offers a full concentration, a minor, and interesting guest lectures every semester. Please visit the website of the new program for information about the academic programs, the staff of the program, faculty teaching in the program, extracurricular events, and more. Through this change, nothing has been lost and quite a bit is gained.

All active courses previously listed in the Environmental Studies Program (ENVRNSTD) are now listed in the Program in the Environment (ENVIRON).

Students who have been pursuing the Environmental Studies minor since before spring of 2002 may finish the minor under the requirements listed here: Environmental Studies Minor. Students who are just beginning an environmental minor should enroll in the minor of the Program in the Environment. Either way, please contact the office of the Program in the Environment (764-6453, environment.program@umich.edu) about the minor or the concentration.
