Dear African American Family Project Participant(s)

Thank you for participating in the African American Family Project Study. Your participation has been invaluable to our understanding of African American racial identity and its relationship to various academic and psychological outcomes.

We could not have completed the study without you. Due to the fact that the funding for the study has not been renewed, participants who started the study in 2003 and 2004 will not have the opportunity to complete the survey for three consecutive years as specified in your consent form. Nevertheless, we have several interesting findings that we are planning to share with the community as well as the Ann Arbor Public Schools in the spring. We will send you an invitation to our public meetings as soon as they are scheduled. In addition, we will post a report detailing our findings on our website in the spring.

As a valued Project participant, we would like to have your consent to contact you for future studies related to African American racial identity. We will be linking the current data with future data. If you agree to be contacted, you are not obligated to participate in any future study. You will have the right to decide whether you would like to participate in this future project at the time in the future in which you are contacted. As always, you will also have the right to stop participating at any time. Thus, your consent will only allow a researcher to contact you in the future.
