Established in 1989, the Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies program is one of three ethnic studies programs housed within the Program in American Culture. We offer interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate courses focusing on the Asian American and Pacific Islander American experience. Our program also serves as a focal point for University research and teaching on Asian/Pacific Islander Americans, and our faculty provides resources for understanding Asian/Pacific Islander American concerns and issues.

An Academic Minor in Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies is available for undergraduates who wish to develop a coherent understanding of the contributions of the Asian and Pacific Islander American presence in American life, history, and thought. Undergraduates also have the option of focusing a course of study through the Concentration within the Program in American Culture.
