We offer a range of courses in Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies each term. Through our teaching, we strive to highlight the contributions of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans to American history and life, to understand contemporary conditions and struggles of A/PIA communities, and to examine contemporary literary and cultural production. Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies has a deep history in community-based service and knowledge production, hence many of our courses incorporate service learning components. Many of our courses also fulfill LS&A distribution requirements as well as the Race & Ethnicity requirement; students should check the LS&A Course Guide for the most updated information on specific courses.

An Academic Minor in Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies is available for undergraduates who wish to develop a coherent understanding of the contributions of the Asian and Pacific Islander American presence in American life, history, and thought. Undergraduates also have the option of focusing a course of study through the Concentration within the Program in American Culture.
