Rob has been an Academic Advisor at the University of Michigan since 1998. In 2008 Rob was appointed to the position of Coordinator of First Year Programs. He is also the Co-Chair of the Advising Center's First Year Committee, has served on the LSA Summer Reads Book Selection and Planning Committee since 2006, is a part-time member of the LSA Academic Standards Board, the Orientation Committee, and supervises the office’s Summer Academic Peer Advisors and the Peer Academic Advising Office (PAAO) and the PAAO staff.
Rob grew up in Kalamazoo, Grand Ledge, and Lansing and currently lives with his family in Dearborn, Michigan. As an undergraduate Rob studied history at Siena Heights University, earning a B.A. in 1989. He then attended graduate school at Wayne State University, where he received his MA and Ph.D. in U.S. History. While at Wayne, Rob worked as a Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant, Adjunct Lecturer and helped form a union for graduate teaching assistants. Rob continues to teach in the History Department at Wayne State, where he specializes in 20th Century U.S. History, Labor History, and U.S. Environmental History.
Rob is also a baseball aficionado and since 2003 writes a weekly column on minor league baseball for a leading fantasy baseball website – www.baseballhq.com/.
