• About

  MSW, MA in American Culture, ABD in English.  Six years as a TA/Lecturer in English; two summers as an ESL writing instructor; one year as a social work intern at U-M Outpatient Psychiatry; one year (1996-1997) as Inteflex Advisor; eleventh year in the office.  Prior to working full-time in the Advising Office, interviewed and diagnosed participants in a depression study for the UM Medical School Department of Family Practice and volunteered as a clinical social worker in the UMH Psychiatric ER.  Became full-time in the office September 1997 and became advisor for the ICP Organizational Studies program.  After that program moved to its own department, Toni began to advise BGS students.  She became a permanent Academic Standards Board member September 2003.  Has chaired a number of committees, and has initiated and continues to coordinate the Mental Health Networkers, a cross-campus group of academic advisors and academic student services personnel.  She has taken the lead in developing office guidelines for working with distressed students and developing mental health resource materials for advisors.  She is the liaison to CAPS, and serves on the Office of Financial Aid review committee, Depression Conference Planning Committee and the SAPAC Advisory Committee.  Outside interests include the study of religions, cooking, creative writing, reading biographies of writers and artists, petting strange dogs and cats, and collecting old home economics texts and cookbooks.
