PRE-LAW ADVISING

Most law schools require that you register for the Law School Data Assembly Service.  The LSDAS prepares and provides a report for each law school to which you apply.

You need not register for the LSDAS at the same time you register for the LSAT.  It is recommended you register for LSDAS approximately six weeks before you plan to apply to law school. Your LSDAS period will extend for five years from your registration date.  If you register for a LSAT at anytime during your LSDAS period, the LSDAS period will be extended five years from your latest LSAT registration.

For 2008-2009 LSAT or LSDAS registrants, LSAC will automatically report the results of all LSATs in your file, including cancellations and absences, since June 1, 2003. (1)

Pre-Law Advisor Release

When you register for the LSAT online at www.LSAC.org, PLEASE consider authorizing the release of your LSAT score to your UM prelaw advisor.  This information assists in following admission trends to share with other UM students.

It's as easy as 1-2-3-4.  When you register for the LSAT:

  1. select a date,
  2. type in a zip code to locate test sites in your area
  3. select a test center in your area and
  4. AUTHORIZE THE RELEASE OF YOUR LSAT SCORE TO YOUR PRELAW ADVISOR.

    In step four of the LSAT registration process, you will see... "We encourage you to aid prelaw advisors by releasing to them your LSAT score(s) and certain biographical, application, and academic information. This information will enable your prelaw advisor to improve services to you and to all of the students and graduates of your college.  This might also enable your advisor to notify you of scholarship opportunities and other pertinent information. All information will be held in strict confidence."  "Check this box if you wish to release information to the prelaw advisor at your undergraduate degree school."  Please check the box!
