Phi Beta Kappa
Phi Beta Kappa, founded in 1776, is the oldest scholastic society in America. Seniors with outstanding achievements in the liberal arts in other schools and colleges of the University of Michigan may be invited to join if they have earned at least forty-five credits in LS&A.
Phi Kappa Phi
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society. The distinguishing characteristic of Phi Kappa Phi is its belief that all branches of higher education merit recognition.
Tau Beta Pi
Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society.
Sigma Xi — The Scientific Research Society *
Sigma Xi - The Scientific Research Society is an international honor society for scientists and engineers. Membership is open to individuals who have demonstrated excellence or considerable potential for excellence in research.
Golden Key National Honor Society *
Golden Key National Honor Society is an organization dedicated to the recognition of outstanding academic achievement. Membership is available to Juniors and Seniors with a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher. Once you become a member, you are a member for life.
Mortar Board *
Mortar Board recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership and service, provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.
National Society of Collegiate Scholars *
The Society recognizes first and second year students who excel academically, and encourages civic responsibility and leadership development through the collegiate experience and beyond.
Sigma Iota Rho — An International Relations Honor Society *
The purpose of this organization shall be to promote and reward scholarship and service among students and practitioners of international relations and global studies, to foster integrity, creative performance, and knowledge in the conduct of international affairs.
Phi Alpha Theta, Alpha Alpha Zeta Chapter — History National Honor Society *
Phi Alpha Theta is the international honor society for undergraduate History concentrators. The University of Michigan's chapter, Alpha Alpha Zeta, was founded in 1982 on the initiative of our students.
Phi Lambda Upsilon — Chemistry
Phi Lambda Upsilon, an honorary chemical society, maintains a chapter at the the University of Michigan. Its members have achieved academic excellence in chemistry, chemical engineering, or pharmacy.
Eta Sigma Phi, Alpha Eta Chapter — Classical Studies, Latin and Greek *
The national honorary collegiate society for students of Latin, Greek, and/or the classical studies.
Eta Kappa Nu, Beta Epsilon Chapter — Computer Science *
Eta Kappa Nu is the honor society for Electrical Engineers and Computer Engineers at the University of Michigan. It sponsors social activities as well as technical presentations from contacts in industry.
Kappa Delta Pi — Educators *
Kappa Delta Pi is an honor society of, about, and for educators. The Society’s goal is to provide resources and services at each stage of educators’ careers.
Delta Phi Alpha, Delta Rho Chapter — German
The Germanic Languages and Literatures department sponsors a chapter of the German honorary society, Delta Phi Alpha, to which qualified seniors and graduate students may be elected.
Phi Sigma Tau — Philosophy
Phi Sigma Tau is an international honor society which serves to award distinction to students having high scholarship and personal interest in philosophy, to promote student interest in research and advanced study in this field; to provide opportunities for the publication of student research papers of merit; to encourage a professional spirit and friendship among those who have displayed marked ability in this field; to popularize interest in philosophy among the general collegiate public.
Sigma Pi Sigma — National Physics Honor Society
Sigma Pi Sigma is the National Physics Honor Society. Sigma Pi Sigma is housed within the SPS. Through election to Sigma Pi Sigma, distinctive achievement and high scholarship in physics are recognized and celebrated.
Pi Sigma Alpha — national honorary fraternity in Political Science

Psi Chi — National Honor Society in Psychology *
The Psychology Department has a chapter of the national Honor Society in Psychology (Psi Chi). Psi Chi provides peer counseling and tutoring in psychology, and co-sponsors the career fair with the Undergraduate Psychology Society.
