Summer Reads
The Program, inaugurated in 2007, is designed to strengthen the sense of academic community through fostering greater dialogue among faculty, students, and staff, as well as facilitate students' entry into this community through intellectual engagement and exchange. A further goal of the Program is to link students to and help publicize the College's Theme Year.
Program participants will have an opportunity to meet the author at the author's public talk and other venues during the author's campus visit.
Summer Reads 2009 — Mr. Wilson's Cabinet of Wonder *
Mr. Wilson's Cabinet of Wonder is about a small, quirky Museum of Jurassic Technology maintained in a Los Angeles store-front by David Wilson. The book raises the issue of how we decide what is "real" and what is "true". It is a fascinating look at the convergences between art, science, perception and reality.
Summer Reads 2008 — Power to the People *
Power to the People (Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran) discusses the economic, environmental, and socio-political impact of our energy choices — past, present, and future.
Summer Reads 2007 — China Shakes the World *
James Kynge's China Shakes the World.
