First-Year Student Calendar
January 2012 FY Timeline
Welcome Back!
Even though the break was relatively short, we hope that it was restful and productive. Now that you have a semester of experience under your belt, it is a good time to dive into your Winter semester classes, get involved outside the classroom, and start thinking about possible concentrations.
LSA Concentrations and Minors:
- For a complete list of LSA Concentrations and pre-requisites, check out the enclosed attachment.
Academic Resources:
Don’t forget about some of the valuable resources on campus. Numerous studies have shown that students who use advising and academic resources do better in their courses.
- If you are taking a science course, check out the Science Learning Center. Join a study group now – they fill up quickly!
- If you are taking math, don’t forget about the Math Lab and their evening hours.
- If there are areas of your academic performance that you would like to improve upon, check out our Strategies for Success website.
Peer Advising and help with course selection and scheduling.
- Hopefully Winter term registration went smoothly, but if you are still working on finalizing your schedule and would like some help or just want suggestions about interesting classes, come see one of our trained Academic Peer Advisors in the Peer Academic Advising Office (PAAO) in 1255 Angell Hall. They can also talk to you about study skills and time management. Or visit the Peer Advising website at http://lsapeeradvising.wordpress.com/
- If you are on a Waitlist and have questions about how to drop, add, or swap or about how to use an override, check out these Wolverine Access Tutorials on the Peer Academic Advising website http://lsapeeradvising.wordpress.com
Martin Luther King Day
- Don’t miss the many MLK Day events on and around January 16th, 2012.
Walk-In Advising
- Walk-In Advising. The Academic Advising Office will have Walk-In Advising Hours Wednesday, January 4th, through Tuesday, January 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Maize Pages – Get Involved
- While the list of UM student organizations can be overwhelming, it is worth a few minutes of time to check them out at Maize Pages.
Winter Semester Drop/Add Deadline
- Reminder: Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 is the last day to drop or add classes and the last day to change your grading status to pass/fail or back to graded.
Print your schedule and verify its accuracy before the 24th. You can also call the LSA Newnan Academic Advising Center to set up a regular appointment to see an advisor by calling us at (734) 764-0332.
Have a great Winter semester and Go Blue!
