Advising

Your diploma will be mailed to the permanent address you provided online in the application for graduation.  You should allow 8-10 weeks from the time you receive your verification of graduation letter for your diploma to arrive.  May graduates usually begin to receive their diplomas in mid to late July, December graduates in early to mid March, and August graduates in late November.  The Diploma Office, NOT  the Academic Auditors Office, orders and sends your diploma.  Please contact the Diploma Office at ro.diploma.staff@umich.edu or at 734-764-9206 with questions regarding your diploma, name changes and address changes.

If you are a double concentrator, you will only receive one diploma because you are earning only one degree (either Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (B.S. Chem) degree).  Concentrations and minors will not be listed on your diploma unless you receive Honors in your concentration through the Honors Program. Your concentrations and minors will be listed on your official transcript.

Degrees with Distinction

Degrees with distinction are awarded on the basis of rank in class. The GPA range for distinction is determined on the cumulative GPAs of the LSA May graduating class and is subject to change every year based on the GPAs of the May class.

Highest Honors/High Honors/Honors

Honors concentration awards: "No Honors," "Honors," "High Honors," or "Highest Honors." "No Honors" is given for work that does not meet departmental standards, and for students with GPAs under 3.4. The other three are posted on the transcript & diploma.
