Grad student use of computers, printers and copier

The GSI copying allocation is 15 copies per student. This is based on demonstrated teaching needs. For a GSI teaching 3 sections of 25 students per section, your allocation is 1125 copies. This will need to last throughout the term, so you may want to leave a bit in reserve until the end of term.

Only GSIs have copier privaleges.

In regard to computers and printing:

There is a computer lab in the grad area, room 236B. GSIs have priority use of these computers, but if no GSI is there, any Anthro grad student is welcome to use them. Please remember that these are University group machines; data left on the hard drive is not secure and could disappear without notice. The printer in the grad lounge is part of the "Limited Printing Partners" program managed by ITCS. All copies printed on this printer will be charged to your student account in accordance with the ITCS program. This is not a departmental charge, so we have no control over the fee. The printer is there for your convenience.

GSIs only: Please use the computer in front of the Graduate Student Coordinator’s (Laurie Marx) office to print out course materials. That computer will print to the laser printer just down the ramp.

I would like to thank the Michigan Anthropology Graduate Association (MAGA) for discussing ideas on how we can best manage our limited departmental resources. One suggestion from MAGA was to let everyone know that our resources are limited, we do need to conserve, and to simply ask for your help and cooperation. So please – use electronic resources whenever it makes sense to do so, and limit your use of departmental resources to departmental business. Together we can save trees and budgets!
