LSA Theme Semester “India in the World” starts this month

Winter 2014 is LSA’s campus-wide Theme Semester “India in the World”, coordinated by the Center for South Asian Studies, and a faculty Steering Committee and a Student Advisory Board. A variety of courses, music events, art exhibitions and lectures will run throughout the term, bringing influential artists, musicians activists and scholars to campus.
The Department of Anthropology will be co-hosting two lectures: "Temple Destruction and Historical Construction: Rethinking the 'Fall' of Vijayanagara" by Kathleen Morrison on January 10th, and India Theme Semester Lecture: "Populist Publics: Print Capitalism and Embodied Politics in South India" by Frank Cody (a Michigan alum) on January 30th.
