"Also focusing on the other, broadly defined, is “State of Exception,” opening Feb. 7 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. This photographic exhibit, shot by Richard Barnes, grew out of U-M anthropologist Jason DeLeon’s work with the Undocumented Migration Project. It focuses on the complex and ambiguous stories implied by the ephemera left behind as undocumented migrants cross from Mexico to the U.S., whether water bottles, backpacks or clothing."
