Jeffrey R. Parsons Jeffrey R. Parsons is Professor of Anthropology at the Department of Anthropology and Curator of Latin America Archaeology at the Museum of Anthropology. He has pioneered and expanded the scope of settlement patterns analysis in archaeology and conducted extensive surveys in Central Mexico, Peru, and Argentina. The Latin American Range houses ceramic and lithic collections from throughout Middle and South America, plus a large quantity of notes, maps, photographs, and slides associated with Museum-sponsored field research over the past 55 years in Mexico and Peru. Some archaeological and ethnographic collections from South America were assembled as early as the late 19th century. The collections are particularly strong for central and southern Mexico: these include systematic surface collections made by james Griffith during the 1940s in the valley of Mexico and the valley of Oaxaca. Of additional special significance is a complete type collection of Viru Valley, Peru ceramic types assembled by James A. Ford during the late 1940s.
