Lisa C. Young completed her Ph.D in anthropology from the University of Arizona in 1996. She is currently a Research Scientist in the Museum of Anthropology and Lecturer II in the Department of Anthropology. Her research focuses on changes in the economy and social organization used by prehistoric small-scale agricultural groups. Specifically, she examines changes in mobility strategies and village organization during the pithouse-to-pueblo transition in the American Southwest, by analyzing shifts in storage practices and the use of wild resources. She is actively involved in the excavation of two sites in the Homol'ovi area of northeastern Arizona and includes students in her research through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) and informal volunteer opportunities. She is also the undergraduate honors advisor for archaeology.
