The African Studies Center (ASC) sponsors conferences, lectures, exhibits, film series, and cultural performances throughout the year. These events are designed to foster understanding of Africa among members of the U-M community and the public and to advance the exchange of resources and knowledge between U-M and its partners in Africa.

Eric Morier-Genoud
Interests
Eric Morier-Genoud is a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton (USA), where he completed his PhD on the Politics of the Roman Catholic Church in colonial Mozambique. He joined Queen's University in September 2008, having spent the previous six years as a research and teaching fellow at the Universities of Oxford, Lausanne and Basel (Switzerland).
Research Statement
My main research interests are in the history and politics of Africa, the Portuguese-speaking world, nationalism, religion, Christian missions, war and conflict transformation. I am currently working on the jihadi insurgency in northern Mozambique, on Irish missionaries in the world, and the history of African students at Queen's University Belfast.
