Tibetan Buddhism
bmbloom@umich.edu
Having worked for several years at the Rubin of Museum of Art in New York and having recently completed an MA in Asian Religions at Yale Divinity School, Rebecca is now eager to pursue research in the historical development of Buddhist artistic and religious traditions in the Western Himalayan regions of Tibet and India, including parts of the modern states of Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. She hopes to examine sacred art-in-context alongside the multiplicity of textual sources connected to religious content and artistic production, thus shedding new light on the early Buddhist heritage of this region, as well as the repercussions of Western Himalayan innovation on the evolution of Tibetan religion and art more broadly.
