Instructions for Applicants:
University of Michigan -Sponsored SUMMER STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM FOR TIBETAN STUDIES
Spring 2007: May 23July 4
Students who have completed at least 2 semesters of college coursework,
have a GPA of at least 2.5, and are in good academic standing
will be considered for admission.
The application to the Study Abroad in Tibet Program consists
of several parts, which must be filled out and returned to:

The application deadline is Friday, December 1st, 2006.
A complete application must be submitted on or before the deadline
and will consist of an applicant information form and an applicant
questionnaire:
There are also three Academic Evaluation Letters that must be completed
and returned. At least one of the letters of evaluation should
come from professors or graduate student instructors in a course
in Buddhist or Tibetan studies.
Please be sure that evaluators are aware of the application deadline.
We suggest that evaluators complete and return the forms to the
applicant at least a week before submission of the completed application.
Students who waive access to their evaluations must submit
the forms in a sealed envelope with the signature of the evaluator
across the seal.
In addition to the forms on this website, the application must
include one copy of the student's official transcript:
- Official transcripts of all college work undertaken through
the Summer 2006 semester, both at the University of Michigan
and at other schools. University of Michigan transcripts can
be ordered through Wolverine
Access. In order for transcripts to be considered official,
they must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the registrars
stamp on the seal.
If you are applying for a scholarship, you must also complete:

Applying for scholarships is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. For more information, please see the Scholarships section of this website.
Please Note:
- Incomplete Applications will not be reviewed.
- Accepted applicants will need to provide the Asian Languages and Cultures Office with details of their passport information. Students who do not have a passport should apply for one immediately. While lack of a passport at the time of application will not affect admission, ALC urges students to obtain one as soon as possible.
- Accepted students will be required to obtain Chinese visas in coordination with ALC. Accepted applicants who are not US citizens should notify ALC as soon as possible in order to assure proper visa authorization.
- Students will be notified of the Admission decision no later
than Friday, December 22. Students will be mailed program
information after enrolling in the program and turning in their
deposit.
- Acceptance deposits ($1,000 for all applicants) will be due to ALC on Friday, January 5, 2006.
