Evolution of massive, star-forming protoplanetary disks

Jaehan Bae studies the short- and long-term evolution of protoplanetary disks. The former focuses on the phase during which time protoplanetary disks obtain mass from their natal cloud, and the latter focuses on the dispersal of such massive disks. By carrying out numerical simulations, Bae hopes to make predictions for accretion variability such as FU Ori-type outbursts and formation of disk structures including spiral pattern, vortices, and clumps, which can be tested against observations.

    Additional Interests

Accretion disks; star formation; planet formation, instabilities, exoplanets
