    Nuclei of nearby galaxies

Vivienne Baldassare is studying the factors that shape the nuclei of nearby galaxies. She is using images from the Hubble Space Telescope to identify nuclear star clusters, or dense groups of stars that reside at the center of some galaxies. By studying how the fraction of galaxies containing these nuclear star clusters changes with environment, she hopes to learn more about how nuclear star clusters might form.

    Additional Interests

    Supermassive black holes.
