THE PROGRAM IN BIOLOGY FOR WINTER 2009 Includes BIOLOGY, EEB, and MCDB courses GSI applications are being accepted for the following courses:
The employment fraction for each of these positions is .50. GSI duties will include, but are not limited to, attending required lectures for courses, in addition to teaching in lab and/or discussion sections; participation in weekly prep meetings, holdings regular office hours, and participation in planning and grading sessions. The criteria for selecting GSIs will include the following: priority is given to EEB and MCDB Ph.D. students; merit; prior experience with a course (i.e., having take the course or an equivalent or related course, having been previously a GSI for the course, or an equivalent or related course); other training or experience required or explicit to the teaching goals/requirements of a specific course. Selections based on the above criteria will be made by faculty assigned to courses and the Associate Chairs for Undergraduate Studies in the Departments of EEB and MCDB. Completed GSI applications should be submitted to Chris Psujek, in the Biology Program Office, 1111 Kraus Natural Science Building. Winter term applications are due October 15, 2008. It is expected that initial offers for GSI positions will be made by mid-November. Unsuccessful applications will be retained for consideration in the event that there are last minute openings. Upon request, any applicant denied employment will receive, within fourteen (14) calendar days, a written explanation of the reasons for denial of employment. An applicant denied employment may request an in-person interview with the hiring agent(s) to be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time. In the event an Employee does not receive his or her preferred assignment, he or she can request a written explanation or an in-person interview with the hiring agent(s).
