2012-2013 Small Grant Recipients

The BLI Small Grants was a brand new initiative for the 2012-2013 academic year. With a rolling application deadline and a speedy review process, this new funding program ensures the opportunity to support short-term projects or unexpected opportunities and are up to $200. In the first year, the Institute was able to support the following six proposals:

  • UM Alternative Spring Break Appalachian South – Rural Poverty
  • English 319 Theater and Social Change: Michigan Reformatory (A Prison Creative Arts Project)
  • Muslim Students’ Association Fast-A-Thon: The REAL Hunger Games
  • Partnering with Refugees at Detroit Freedom House
  • Right to Choose: Issues in Reproductive Justice
  • United Students Against Sweatshops
