Advisory Prerequisites:	Only first-year students, including those with sophomore standing, may pre-register for First-Year Seminars. All others need permission of instructor.
BS:	This course counts toward the 60 credits of math/science required for a Bachelor of Science degree.
Repeatability:	May not be repeated for credit.

This seminar provides a broad introduction to biological evolution, the central theory of biology. Students are expected to read the textbook and discuss aspects of their assignments during class. We consider the meaning of "species" and how new species evolve, differences between sexual and asexual species, and why natural selection is believed to be the main driving force of evolution. Classes meet in 2009 Ruthven Museum. Textbook: What Evolution Is, Ernst Mayr. Paperback edition. 2001.
