This course, the continuation of ASIANLAN 138, is for heritage students who have been raised in Korean-speaking community and can command daily-based Korean but whose language is relatively inaccurate or sometimes inappropriate depending on contexts and contents. This course meets five hours per week and covers course materials for regular 2nd year Korean courses (ASIANLAN 235 and 236) within an academic term. While this course focuses on developing their comprehensive competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing, more emphasis will be given to accuracy in reading and writing Korean as was in ASIANLAN 138. Through various class materials and activities, students will have opportunities to develop communication skills in writing and speaking that are grammatically accurate and pragmatically appropriate.
Prerequisite: ASIANLAN 138 or its equivalent language proficiency from the most recent Korean Placement Test.
