This course provides an overview of the milestones of human development from conception to death. We examine the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of children, adolescents, and adults, and the various factors (e.g., genetics, parenting, peer groups, and schooling)that influence development. Our goal is to give you an initial introduction to the main issues, central theories, and dominant research methods in developmental psychology. Although the content is primarily drawn from research and theories in developmental psychology, this course will emphasize the biological mechanisms of development and will integrate relevant neuroscience findings.

Requirements include multiple-choice exams and papers.

Required Text: Janet Belsky, Experiencing the Lifespan (First Edition).
