Primary Instructor:

The first part of the departmental sequence in Ottoman Turkish, this course will introduce students with intermediate or higher-level Modern Turkish to original texts from a wide variety of printed sources. Based on those, it will teach the Arabic script and the essential elements of Arabic and Persian origin in Ottoman Turkish grammar. Materials will be made available through a course website. Midterm and final exam.
