Historical trends and determinants of government expenditures; economics of social welfare; causes and consequences of market failures; missing markets, externalities, and public goods; imperfect competition and natural monopolies; adverse selection and social insurance; economic analysis of political decision-making; cost-benefit analysis and program evaluation.
