BIOLOGY 162 or 163 or 172 or 174 or [195 and 173] AND CHEM 210.
Advisory Prerequisites:
Prior or concurrent enrollment in CHEM 215.
BS:
This course counts toward the 60 credits of math/science required for a Bachelor of Science degree.

Primary Instructor:

Introductory Biochemistry is designed to be a general introduction to the chemistry of biological systems. This course will furnish basic information concerning the organization of chemical reactions in cells and will include information on the enzymes that catalyze these reactions as well as on the interactions between different pathways. Topics covered include: amino acid, carbohydrate, lipid, and nucleic acid structure, nomenclature, and function; enzyme kinetics; and intermediary metabolism and its regulation.

This is a lecture-based course with supplementary discussion sections.
