ITALIAN 236 is a content-based course for students who are interested in further development of their oral and written skills. The topic of this course is "Italian-American Writers in the North America," which deals with the phenomenon of the immigration experience of those Italian writers and poets who reside in the United States and Canada. Students will be presented with a variety of authentic prose and poetry works written by these authors, as well as with visual and audio materials designed to stimulate discussion, both oral and written. In addition to group discussions, debates, and oral presentations, students will practice writing in various formats such as letters, book or film reviews, essays, etc. The goal of this course is to develop the skills necessary to speaking and writing correct, fluent Italian. Class format includes oral presentations, written assignments based on materials discussed in class and active class participation.
