FA 2010 American Culture AMCULT 102 - First Year Seminar in American Studies Section 003 Canoe Cultures
Course Note:	This course is designed to introduce students to a wide variety of topics and issues in American Studies in a seminar format from a Social Science perspective. It enables students to have contact with regular faculty in a small-class experience and to elicit their active participation in the topics under discussion.

This seminar introduces the history, technology, and cultural and political significance of traditional outrigger canoe voyaging in the Pacific Island region to enrich and even challenge modern American understandings of identity, culture, and civilization.
