Focuses on grammar and involves reading stories in Sanskrit which have been written to fit particular levels of grammar. The goal of the course is to enable the student to read and write basic Sanskrit.

The textbook for the course is Samskrta-Subodhini: A Sanskrit Primer by Professor Deshpande, the instructor for the course. The copies of the book will be available from the instructor during the first class. The cost of the book $27.00. Please bring a check made out to Madhav Deshpande, during the first class.
