The purpose of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the principles of statistical inference. Topics include probability, sampling distributions, hypothesis testing, estimation, and simple regression. This is the standard statistics course offered by the department and provides a general overview appropriate for most students. Students interested in a considerably more advanced, calculus and proof-based version of this material are urged to consider 405 instead.
