This course focuses on interpretation of prescriptions, principles of compounding and dispensing of medications, medication safety, and patient counseling. Students gain hands on experience with pharmacy computer systems, patient profiles, preparation of solutions, emulsions, and suspensions, drug information retrieval, and patient counseling. State and federal laws related to pharmacy practice and a shadow experience in a community setting are also included.
