Second-Year Portuguese is designed to integrate, refine, and expand proficiency level practiced earlier in PORTUG 101, and 102, to heighten the listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills of students, further developing students? cultural awareness, and preparing them to formulate opinions on current issues, by providing insight into the literature, film, and culture of Portuguese-speaking people through content-based themes and tasks. Communicative skills are emphasized through class conversations.

Classroom activities involve group tasks, skits, role-plays, presentation of cultural projects, grammar review - finer points of Portuguese grammar as made necessary from daily observation of students' speaking & writing performance ? analysis of 'cronicas', authentic website materials, films, and videos.

Homework involves completing daily activities, reviewing grammar, writing guided essays, and researching on the Internet.

Grading is based on class attendance and participation (crucial for progress) quizzes, a midterm, 2 speaking exams, a cultural project, short essays, Internet research and a final exam.

Nota importante para alunos que nao fizeram 102: Escreva para a professora o mais breve possivel para fazer o exame de nivelamento.
