Psychology is the study of thought and behavior. It can help you understand yourself and others, and is relevant to health, education, business, and law. The course, which involves two lectures and one small discussion section per week, will provide a survey of the field. We will overview neuroscience and its relationship to behavior and thought, sensation and perception, consciousness, learning, memory, language, thinking, intelligence, motivation, personality, social and cultural influences on behavior and thought, development across the life span, stress and coping, and disorders and treatments. At the end of the course students should know key findings about these topics, as well as how to evaluate purported facts about psychology.
