Credit Exclusions: Students who have credit for GEOSCI 107 or 108 may elect GEOSCI 147 for only 2 credits. Those who have credit for both GEOSCI 107 and 108 may elect GEOSCI 147 for only 1 credit.

Advisory Prerequisites: Enrollment restricted to first-year students, including those with sophomore standing.
BS: This course counts toward the 60 credits of math/science required for a Bachelor of Science degree.
Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.

This first-year seminar examines the geologic origin, as well as economic and societal impact of natural hazards such as earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, floods, tsunamis, climate change, and meteorite impacts through lectures, discussion, student presentations, and research projects.
