Este curso se enfoca en la obra del genial y controvertido director de cine Pedro Almovódar, con un énfasis especial en sus películas, sus guiones, y sus otros textos literarios y ensayísticos. A través de ellos se explorará su insistencia por dramatizar y llevar al extremo la reflexión histórica y política que su obra propone; la referencias constantes a la transición, democracia, las expresiones camp o las melodramáticas con el fin de entender la "estética Almodóvar" y la "Almodóvar-manía" que sus últimas películas han creado.
Los estudiantes escribirán breves ensayos sobre los temas discutidos en clase, y harán una presentación oral. La clase y la discusión se llevará a cabo en español.
