Over the course of this academic term we will be exploring and questioning the concept of "common knowledge."

  • What does everybody know?
  • What kinds of assumptions do we make without thinking?
  • How much control do we actually have over our perceptions?
  • How do we interpret the bombardment of information that we encounter every moment?

All of the readings and writing assignments in this course will reflect the idea of common knowledge in some significant way, asking us to constantly reevaluate our own ideas about the way we think and the way we view the world.
