Primary Instructor:

This intensive course meets the needs of students who want to cover the equivalence of one year of Arabic by taking Arabic intensively during the spring/summer terms.

AAPTIS 412 is an 8-credit intensive course equivalent in content, objectives, requirements and credits to the non-intensive two semester nonintensive two semester sequence AAPTIS 409-410. This course is offered to students, members of the community and government personnel who have completed at least two years of Arabic and wish to continue Arabic study for career and professional purposes. It provides opportunities for the study and analysis of various aspects of Islamic banking and finance, foreign investment in the Arab world and Arab current business practices through authentic texts, brochures, and media-based materials including economic reports, lectures, panel discussions and films. Students who successfully complete this sequence will be able to perform well in a variety of situations, both social and business.

Course Requirements:

Course grade is based on classroom performance, assignments, tests, and final examination.

Class Format:

The course meets four hours a day for five days per week during the summer term.
