In this inquiry-driven course, students will explore the complexities of text through reading, writing, and responding to different rhetorical situations. For instance, students will be posed with questions like, how is text defined? What constitutes writing? In an attempt to answer these questions, students will situate themselves in communities, in and outside of the classroom, to practice critical thinking and writing strategies such as invention, drafting, and revision. Through these processes, students will consider myriad factors like, contemporary social issues, technologies of composition, and audience.
This course affords students the opportunity to compose arguments within academic contexts and demonstrate an awareness of their roles as researchers and writers in various communities.
