In this course you will learn the types of writing necessary for college-level academic success. You will be required to write several papers of varying length and type; you will also read and respond to your peers' writing. This course focuses on your development as a clear and thoughtful writer. To that end, there are also required readings, which will help you develop your critical eye. In this course you will read and respond to various texts (essays, novels, films, etc), which in some way address gender, especially in relation to writing – likely beginning with Woolf's A Room of One's Own. Discussion topics will include the intersection of gender and writing with society, representation, and the development of self.
