Advanced seminar on approaches to the study of embodied experience. Themes include:

  • some classic theories that offer different ways of thinking about and "with" the body
  • the cultural and historical constitution of bodies, particularly their differentiation from bodily "others"
  • transformations of bodily experience via contemporary mass media, commodities, and globalization.
