This seminar is the first part of the IMP capstone experience. We designed the capstone experience to give students a chance to make connections between various parts of their IMP and to design a final project that represents the culmination of their work. These goals are accomplished through two main requirements: your M-Portfolio and Senior Project. The IMP Senior Seminar is a designed to prepare you to complete these two requirements in the winter academic term.

Goals for the Course: Upon successful completion of this course you …
…will be able to articulate what you’ve accomplished in your IMP, both succinctly and with depth.
…will be able to discuss the historical origins, characteristic methods, and subject matter of academic disciplines that contribute to your IMP.
…will be able to articulate basic definitions of an academic discipline and interdisciplinarity; and be able to locate your IMP with a taxonomy of related terms.
…will be able to discuss some of the basic issues surrounding interdisciplinary research in academia.
…will have integrated ideas from multiple disciplines to gain a better understanding of a particular issue related to your IMP.
…will be able to discuss and critically evaluate interdisciplinary work outside your own area of specialization.
…will have successfully proposed an interdisciplinary senior project that represents the culmination of your IMP.
…will have started on an M-Portfolio page that integrates all of your curricular and co-curricular activities related to your IMP.

Readings: PDFs of the readings on interdisciplinarity will be provided on our C-Tools site.

Course Requirements:

Two 2 page reflective papers, a 6-8 page response paper on the concept of interdisciplinarity, 6-8 analytical paper on a topic related to your IMP, a teaching session on this same topic, Senior Project proposal, M-Portfolio, and participation in discussions and peer review exercises.
