This course is an introductory study of Chinese calligraphy. ASIANLAN 108 teaches students how to produce Chinese calligraphy through hands-on practice in class. Five basic writing scripts will be introduced: Seal script, Clerical script, Regular script, Semi-cursive script and Cursive script. In addition, students will learn about the history, development, aesthetics, and appreciation of Chinese calligraphy. This course also includes the origin and history of Chinese characters. Students can improve their handwriting in Chinese characters and master beginning level Chinese characters.
