Native or near-native speakers of Korean are not eligible for this course. No credit granted to those who have completed or are enrolled in ASIANLAN 137.

Primary Instructor:

ASIANLAN 135 will introduce the basic structure of Korean while focusing on the development of reading, writing and speaking skills.

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Carry on simple daily conversation based on the topics of self-introduction, friends, major, daily schedules, weather, and so on
  • Write a short composition (up to 45 words) about various social and familiar topics
  • Read the written class materials in Korean and to utilize them as an anchor to speak about the contents
  • Understand information and to construe meanings based on each different context while listening

Course Requirements:

Attendance, Classroom Performance & Participation, Daily Homework Assignments, Quizzes, Lesson Tests, and Writing Assignment

Intended Audience:

ASIANLAN 135, the first of the two-term sequence (ASIANLAN 135 and ASIANLAN 136), is for those who have no or minimal proficiency in Korean.
