This course provides an intensive introduction to scholarship in German Studies and familiarizes students with the field's central theoretical and methodological debates. It provides insight into the history of the discipline, and its future trajectory. One set of readings fosters a broad vision of German Studies as an interdisciplinary and intermedial field, a second set focuses on close readings of discrete texts (literary, theoretical, visual) to sharpen analytical skills and research practices.
