Primary Instructor:

This is an introductory course on the foundations of physics tailored for students seeking to be better prepared for success in the core introductory courses (PHYSICS 135, for life/health sciences and kinesiology, or PHYSICS 140, for science and engineering fields). The course aims to develop skills and abilities needed for problem-solving within the conceptual framework of introductory physics.

Course Requirements:

The grading will be based on quizzes, exams, graded discussions, and online homework.

Intended Audience:

Undergraduates without a good high school background in (college) mathematics or algebra based physics, students who perform poorly (under 50%) on the Math Pre-test given to students at the beginning of the term in PHYSICS 140 and also those students who perform poorly (C- or below) on the first midterm exam in PHYSICS 140 or 135.

Class Format:

Classes consist of a reading quiz and problem solving discussions. There are no lectures and students are expected to prepare for class by studying the course notes provided online in Canvas.
