In this course, students will explore opportunities available to them in various health careers. This course will expand upon the observation activities introduced the previous year in UC 105-106. Students will devise and implement individualized plans for direct interaction with health-care professionals. These observations/experiences will serve as catalysts for self-reflection, helping students to better understand how various career paths intersect with their personal values, motivations, and skill sets. The course will expose students to theoretical and practical considerations in their interaction with health-care practitioners and their distinct work environments, as well as resources for creating electronic pre-professional portfolios (MPortfolio). Semester-end projects will be made available to HSSP first-year students as learning resources in their first-year learning experience.
